About the Information collection

Regarding the current Coronavirus spread in Austria, we decided to collect and prepare important as well as useful information sources that support the counteracting measures put in place by the Austrian government on the 10th of March. This is by no means a complete collection of relevant information material and not as extensive as the information collection for German speakers. However, the following links are supposed to help you evaluate the current situation rationally and act accordingly, especially in the case of an emergency.

What do I do if someone shows symptoms of the current Coronavirus?

If you happen to have any of the following symptoms – fever, respiratory difficulties, coughing
AND have been in one of the following risk regions (Source: Federal Ministry for Health Status 13. March)
– Italy
– China
– Hongkong
– Japan
– Singapore
– South Korea
– Iran
– Germany (especially Rural district Heinsberg | North Rhine-Westfalia)
– France (especially Grand Est with the following regions – Elsass, Lothringen and Champagne-Ardenne)

OR have been in contact with an infected person then you are asked to follow the following measures:
– Contact the Health Care Hotline via 1450
– Stay where you are, do not seek a doctor’s office or a hospital you risk infecting further people

(Sources: Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (FM – Health), AGES (English), FM – Health | FAQ collection).

We would like to point out that this virus is especially dangerous for risk groups (chronically ill people, elderly people above the age of 65, people with weakened immune system). These risk groups are asked to absolutely minimise the number of contacts to other people to the bare minimum. Furthermore, all of us are asked to follow the guidelines and orders of hospitals and retirement homes regarding visiting patients/people living there in order to ensure their safety/health (Source: AGES (German)).
